Brian Wilson played an intimate eight-song acoustic set in London on Thursday (July 2), to mark the book launch of a new collector and the overall impression published with Sir Peter Blake from the recent album That Lucky Old Sun
The cloth bound hand with numbers box set of original collages of iconic artist Sir Peter Blake is published by Genesis Publications and contains also plays music handwritten sheet and letter of the album song "Midnight's Another Day". His accompanying book is hand numbered, signed by both authors, Wilson and Blake.
As Brian prepares to tour Europe and North America in 2009, this art book in hand and set the launch with print only 1,000 copies available worldwide. As described by Brian as "a spiritual album, which features 12 exclusive new impressions created by Peter, presented as numbered serigraphs art.
The original series of collages inspired by the music of the new Brian Wilson's masterpiece, which provides a moving tribute in Southern California and a celebration Brian's life and his career. Sir Peter Blake, comments, "It is very satisfying for the California Brian go to the page. That Lucky Old Sun is a collage sound, "I am very happy to do visually."
Brian Wilson is the creative force behind some of the most cherished recordings in history and one of the most influential composers of the last century. That Lucky Old Sun first appeared as a live performance commissioned by the Royal Festival Hall, London in 2007. A year later the work was developed in the study and the result was Brian's new full length album in years.
The pioneer of "Pop Art", Sir Peter Blake is an elected member of the Royal Academy, an associate artist at the National Gallery and in 2003, more than forty years later his first solo exhibition, was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen for services to the arts.
Brian Wilson played the secret gig at a private club, Members of London to celebrate the launch of a new box set of collages about his recent album That Lucky Old Sun
Wilson, backed by three members of his touring band, performed this album Lucky Old Sun tracks, as well as classic hits in the private launch to members of the bar 1 Alfred Place in the West End of London.
