FLUFFY RAISED DONUTS

1 cup milk
1 package dry yeast
1 / 2 cup warm water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 / 4 cup butter
Sugar 1 / 4 cup
1 egg, well beaten
1 teaspoon salt
3 1 / 2 cups flour

Scald milk and a cup of cold or warm. Dissovle yeast in a bowl with warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar. When the foam, to add to cooled milk. Add the shortening, 1 / 4 cup sugar, egg and salt. Beat in the flour. On board with flour, knead until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, let rise to double. Hit and let rise until doubled again. Roll dough 1 / 2 "thick and cut with a cutter donuts. Cover and let rise until light and fluffy. Fry in deep hot fat. Glaze with a mixture of water and sugar. Note: You can also frost and decorate colored sprinkles, if desired.

CAKE DONUTS

1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 / 2 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon soda
1 / cup sweet milk 2
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons melted lard or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch of salt
flour

Mix sugar and eggs together. Add the sour milk and soda mixed in milk. Add sweet milk and melted lard. And the vanilla and flour with salt and baking powder mixed with flour. Use enough flour to make a dough stiff enough to roll and cut donuts with donut cutter. Hare 30.

Note: the milk is sour buttermilk, sweet milk is regular milk
