I don’t see anything on the website about these being illegal. I don’t think that the USGA much cares about the coating, just the size of the club head, which is limited to 460cc. I love the way these advertisers say “as shown in USA Today…” or somewhere else. Anybody can buy tasteful ad space in any legitimate publication but they are always in a slightly different typeface and have the word “Advertisement” above and/or below the ad. This means that USA Today or any other magazine does not endorse the product, even though the vendor would have you think otherwise. In the case of this club, I think that if it were the greatest thing since sliced bread, everybody would have one. In this case, it is likely just another gimmick to make it stand out from the competition.
