What Makes A Good Jacket?
There are three main reasons most people wear jackets: Because they keep you warm, because the protect you from getting wet and of course sometimes it’s only the style. This article is mainly about the second and slightly about the first reason, as the question about the style of a jacket depends on the individual taste anyway. In the Winter months it’s essential to have a warming jacket. If you have to leave your warm house while the snow is falling and the wind is blowing, we all know that the right clothing – especially jacket – is the alpha and the omega. A good jacket is really worth the investment. Today there is stuff available you just pay for the brand name, but with jackets it’s still the better option to pick a qualitative one, which are in most cases of good known brands. Even if you don’t see it on the first glance, there are many details that make a good jacket. You don’t want to travel trough the rain and recognize that your jacket isn’t anymore waterproofed. When the wind is blowing you don’t want to feel like you’re naked. One jacket for winter and summer wouldn’t be bad either and when it’s warmer you don’t want to drown in your sweat. So all this problems can be solved by a more qualitative jacket, at least to a certain degree. There are jackets made of special fabrics that are ultra water-repellent like a lotus flower (the lotus effect) but in the same time, they allow your skin to “breath”. They transport the sweat trough different layers away from your skin. You surely know the feeling when your jacket becomes wet because of your sweat. Even is this sounds wired, you know that this is the moment you start to be cold. The inner layers of the jacket are becoming wet and and you think the coat lost its impermeability. Material that solves this problem is for example Gore-tex. It’s a breathable material that’s very rain and snowproof. You always stay dry and warm, a feeling you can enjoy. Look for this or similar materials and put attention in the statistics of the watertightness. If it’s to high, your jacket won’t be breathable. The materials described above are in most cases also very good in protecting you from the wind. You got a windbreaker and a waterproofed jacked all in one. In addition you should really think about a jacket in the jacket. You can take the inner coat out and transform a warm winter jacket to a summer wind and water breaker. As already said, a jacket is nothing you should save money on. You don’t need a extravagant one, but at least also no cheap crap. You’ll thank yourself when you REALLY NEED your jacket the first time.
