Senior Golf Equipment
A senior golfer (one who has reached the grand old age of 50) should not be disheartened by a need to adjust and change their golf equipment to meet the new challenges that greater age causes them to require.
A golfer may not swing at the same speed as in younger years, or, exhibit the same amount of flexibility, but, can, perhaps, produce shots with a greater degree of accuracy than younger counterparts.
As a golfer ages his swing speed will diminish and he may need to consider shafts with a greater degree of flexibility, in order, to better match his game. So you don’t swing with the same velocity as in your youth, but, every great golfer will tell you that there is more to golf than hitting the golf ball as hard and fast as you can. And buying golf equipment that matches your game play is, merely, another adjustment for a senior golfer who has always bought the best tools for his game. If a senior golfer has always used a driver with a steel shaft he may find that switching to a graphite shaft will, not only, provide greater flexibility, but, can increase distance of drive between 6-12 yards over the steel counterpart.
Choosing hybrids over long irons (which are difficult to control) is another consideration for a senior looking for golf equipment that will enhance his game play. Once again, shaft flex plays an important role in the hybrid a senior opts to use and do not be mistaken into thinking that long irons are for the younger and seniors have hybrids foisted on them because many golfers, both young and old, choose hybrids over the longer irons, simply, because they are easier to use.
A senior golf may, also, consider an exercise regime that will increase or maintain greater flexibility and would involve weight training and stretching exercises that would strengthen muscles.
Good golf for seniors need not be a thing of the past because choosing the correct senior golf equipment and following a sensible approach to maintaining overall fitness can prove to be a boon for older golf players.
