putting your baby to sleep. I have a 4 1/2 month old baby boy and he always falls asleep on me or my partner
and then we put him in his cot, and he sleeps through the night till 6.30.
some people have told me to start putting him in his cot as he’s getting tired and if he crys let him cry himself to sleep or else he will always expect to be put to sleep by us first.
Ive tried this several times and he crys straight away, i leave him for 10 mins and he gets worse – he goes bright red in face and makes himself really hot, so i go and pick him up (i dont like him crying the wat he does, i feel sorry 4 him) but when i pick him up he stops instantly.
what should i do? whats best for my baby?
You don’t have to listen to what other people say. Do what’s right for you. The reason babies cry so much when it comes to sleeping alone is that babies weren’t meant to sleep alone. Think about how we evolved. Babies were meant to sleep with their parents. If you have found a way to get him to sleep through the night, doesn’t it seem that that method is best? Is it really so bad for a child to expect his parents to put him to bed in a way that makes him feel safe and secure? I don’t see anything wrong with what you are doing. You should feel sorry for him. He isn’t trying to manipulate you or anything. He just wants to feel safe and secure. When you leave him alone, he doesn’t feel safe and secure which causes a lot of stress. When you pick him up, or he falls asleep on you, he feels safe and secure and doesn’t have all those harmful stress hormones coursing through his body.
